Description
Rat Tail Collagen
Cell Culture Substratum
Product: #99A001
Overview
Rat Tail Collagen is prepared by an adaptation of the classical method of MB Bornstein (1958) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/13540204. CH3 Rat Tail Collagen is superior with regard to cell attachment and stability in comparisons with recombinant collagen sub-types.
Purification
A proprietary process of CH3 BioSystems LLC.
Formulation
0.1% glacial acetic acid extract of rat-tail tendons. Provided as two 0.5 ml vials.
Product Usage
Dilute 1:100 in 30% ethanol prepared with autoclaved de-ionized water. Prior to plating cells, allow solution to evaporate in uncovered culture vessels placed in a cell culture hood or a clean air cabinet. Serves as an excellent substratum attachment matrix for PC12 cells, neurons and many other cell types.
Testing
All lots are tested for PC12 cell attachment in a neurite regeneration assay. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/701359.
Storage
Shipped frozen. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles. Store undiluted at 4° C for up to 1 year or prepare appropriately sized aliquots and keep indefinitely at ≤ -20° C.
