HepG2 Cell Line Human Hepatoma G2 Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Line

Price range: $600.00 through $750.00

HepG2 cells are powerful accessible immortalized cell models of metabolic activity. As with other cell culture models, the homogeneous nature of HepG2 cultures allows for simplified biochemical analysis without interference from a variety of support cells that are present in animal tissues. These cells are especially useful for pharmaceutical and biotech companies interested in new drug DMPK and toxicity studies in animal models. Metabolism and processing of drug molecules are more easily and cheaply monitored in HepG2 cultured cells than in whole animal models. Pilot studies in HepG2 cells can support and supplement data from animal pharmacokinetics.

  • Metabolism: The chemical modification and degradation of drugs and biomolecules by cytochromes and intra-cellular enzymes. HepG2 cells, like the principle cells of the animal liver, are rich sources of cytochromes and metabolic enzymes.
  • Immortalized: A HepG2 cell line can be maintained indefinitely under the proper culture and storage conditions
  • DMPK: Distribution, metabolism and pharmacokinetics
  • Toxicity: Deleterious side effects of drugs that result in deteriorating health
  • Support Cells: Epithelial cells, blood cells and other cells that support the various metabolic functions of hepatocytes in the liver. Some support cells, for example are responsible for the storage of vitamin A for the body.
