HEK293 Cell Line Human Embryonic Kidney Cells

Price range: $600.00 through $750.00

These cells serve as premium cellular factories for bio-manufacturing. Applications include protein and viral vector plasmid expression and gene transfer with high transfection efficiency. The cell line adapts well to suspension culture and bioreactor use.

  • Bio-Manufacturing Taking: advantage of the synthetic capabilities of millions of genetically and biochemically homogenous cells to direct the production of bio-materials that can be used correct or treat abnormal conditions.
  • Transfection: The introduction of genetic material into a living cell via lipid transfer or electroporation for the bio-manufacture of therapeutic proteins or other active biological products for research and/or clinical uses.
  • Suspension Culture: The founder HEK293 cell line is an “adherent” cell line meaning that it requires attachment to the culture vessel surface in order for the cells to grow and proliferate. By adapting the HEK293 cells to grow and proliferate without attachment to the culture surface, many more cells can be crammed into the culture vessel effectively increasing the number of cells per unit volume of the medium in the culture vessel and therefore increasing the amount of bio-manufactured product per unit volume of culture medium.
  • Bioreactor: In the case of bio-manufacturing, bioreactors are sophisticated hardware devices designed to contain and monitor large quantities of cultured cells growing in suspension for both R&D process development (one liter or more), as well as in extremely large volumes (thousands of liters), for industrial scale production runs.
  • AAV plasmids: Adeno-associated viral (AAV) transfection and production of therapeutic proteins and active viral particles in CH3 BioSystems HEK293 cells are used worldwide in academic and CDMO laboratories.
