Overview

Rat pheochromocytoma clonal cell line. The original parental line isolated in 1976 by Greene and Tischler (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1065897). Neuronal differentiation induced by nerve growth factor.

Formulation

40 to 80 X 10⁶ cells in flask containing recommended culture medium or frozen cell pellet in cryoprotectant.

Product Usage

Cell culture. Use RPMI 1640 medium; 10% Horse Serum; 5% Fetal Bovine Serum. For neuronal differentiation, use 1% Horse Serum + 50 ng/ml nerve growth factor.

Testing

Proliferation (4 day doubling time) and differentiation tested on a substrate of rat-tail collagen.

Storage

Place in culture immediately upon arrival; 35° humidified CO₂ incubator. Use 5 to 7.5% CO₂.
